COLUMBIA - Summer Immersion: New York City

Enjoy your summer with events, special activities, and co-curricular activities while staying sharp with challenging courses. 

NYU Residential Summer: Students live on our Morningside Campus, a serene academic community where they will always be mere steps away from classrooms, libraries, amenities—and New York City.

NYU Commuter Summer: Live off campus in New York City or surrounding areas and commute to classes, co-curricular activities, events, or to simply enjoy the resources of our beautiful Morningside Campus.

Online Summer: Join our programs from anywhere in the world and experience interactive classes with high-achieving peers and dedicated instructors, engaging co-curricular activities, and resources like our online library.

College Edge—Summer: In the College Edge program, students in grades 11–12 truly get the college experience by earning college credit as they learn alongside Columbia’s undergrad students on our Morningside campus. Students will also receive academic advisement and professional development opportunities.

CORNELL Precollege studies

The Summer Residential Program will not be offered in 2024. Instead, all Summer 2024 courses for precollege students will be offered online.

We invite you to learn more about online study, which features rigorous Cornell University undergraduate classes taught by top faculty. In addition to experiencing college academics, you can explore potential majors, build college study skills, earn college credit, receive a Cornell transcript, and prep for college admissions.

You can select from more than 100 fascinating online courses in Architecture and the Arts, Business and Hotel Management, Health and Humanities, International Relations, Psychology, Science and Technology, Social Change, Veterinary Medicine, and more. Courses will be added in the coming months.

DUKE Pre-college programs

The Duke Pre-College Program provides advanced academic opportunities and an introduction to the college experience to students currently in grades 6-11. Our courses are created to give students access to cutting-edge curriculum and technology beyond the average classroom while connecting them with transcendent peers from around the world and influential professionals in their future field. GEORGETOWN academies

Our 1-Week, 2-Week, and 3-Week Academies provide an accelerated, hands-on learning experience. You'll examine a single subject area through collaborative exercises, simulations, group discussions, presentations from industry leaders, and field trips to some of D.C.’s top institutions.

GEORGETOWN summer college

This summer, get a head start and earn college credit at Georgetown. Our Summer College courses ease your transition into the college learning environment through a blend of lectures, class discussions, and featured guest speakers. You’ll have the opportunity to take classes with current undergraduate students, learn from prestigious Georgetown faculty, and engage in challenging coursework that will prepare you for success in college and beyond. Choose from our approved list of five-week on-campus courses, eight-week online courses, or opt to do a combination of both. Upon completion of your course(s), you will have access to an official transcript from Georgetown University.

GEORGETOWN pre-college online program

If you are intrigued by certain subjects and would like to explore them in-depth before college, here is your chance. Georgetown University now offers pre-college online courses for high school students ages 13 and older. Each features dynamic video lessons by renowned Georgetown faculty and access to mentors. The program is available year-round, and the online format enables you to study anywhere, anytime, at your own pace. This flexibility allows you to take multiple courses and discover a variety of academic areas of interest.

HARVARD Pre-College Program

Harvard’s Pre-College Program for high school students is an intensive two-week summer program designed to give you a glimpse of college life. You will live on the Harvard campus during your two-week session while taking a college-level course with other Pre-College Program students. You’ll thrive in a dynamic, immersive and supportive academic environment alongside peers from around the world.

Our Pre-College Program is open to rising juniors and seniors. To be eligible for Summer 2024, you must meet both of the following criteria:

  • Will graduate from high school and enter college in 2025 or 2026.

  • Are at least 16 years old by June 22, 2024, and will not turn 19 years old before July 31, 2024.

REED COLLEGE Young Scholars

Throughout its history, Reed College has been dedicated to providing a challenging education for academically gifted and motivated students. The Young Scholars program, developed in 1980, extends this opportunity to selected high-school students who are ready for part-time, rigorous college study. This highly selective scholarship program allows seniors to take one college class at Reed for the full academic year while concurrently enrolled in high school. It is open to students from the metropolitan area who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement and a commitment to serious study in a particular field of interest.

STANFORD Pre-Collegiate Summer Institutes

Stanford Pre-Collegiate Summer Institutes is a summer enrichment program that provides passionate and intellectually curious students currently in grades 8–11 with intensive study in a single online course and provides a taste of the Stanford classroom experience, and challenges students with advanced content not typically found in the high-school curriculum.

UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO Summer Session 

Undergraduate Courses for High School Students

Join us online this summer to explore new subjects, delve into a current interest with intense focus, and broaden your powers of perception while taking undergraduate courses at the University of Chicago. As a Summer Session student, you have the opportunity to enroll in undergraduate courses drawn from the regular curriculum of the College at the University of Chicago.

You will have access to the same exceptional educational resources available to all students during the regular academic year. All of our classes are taught by distinguished professors and experienced lecturers. In these smaller class settings, you will be able to receive personal attention from your professors and get to know other students in your class well.

Summer Immersion Program for High School Students

Immerse yourself in one of your passions and take advantage of the rich educational resources offered by the University through our summer Immersion programs for high school students. In these undergraduate-level courses, you will get personalized attention from faculty, researchers, and other professionals who will lead you through workshop discussions, research projects, and other hands-on activities.

Whether you’re looking for creative writing workshops, preview courses in STEM fields, or to explore theories of economic policy, philosophy, and free expression., the University of Chicago’s summer Immersion courses offer you the opportunity to explore a topic of interest in-depth. The Immersion Program is a residential program. Students are expected to live in residence and must attend class in-person. There is no hybrid or remote option for Immersion courses. 

USC Summer programs

USC Summer Programs extends a tradition of excellence to outstanding high school students through a diverse offering of four-week summer courses. As a “Summer Trojan,” you will balance academic and campus life as you prepare for college—and earn college credit. USC Summer Programs’ courses are taught by USC faculty and experienced professionals of the USC academic community. Our faculty create an engaging academic experience by combining lectures, hands-on workshops and labs, and guest speakers. Each course is designed to be more interactive, engaging and challenging than accelerated high school classes or the broad introductory courses offered by other summer pre-collegiate programs.

4-Week Credit Program

USC’s four-week college immersion program provides high school students like you with university experience in a subject area of their choice. Courses are interactive, engaging and challenging, allowing you to explore new areas of study or build on your high school coursework.

Depending on the specific course, you may expect group work, hands-on lab experience, field trips, guest speakers, and/or an encompassing final project. You may register for only one course, as each course requires five to six hours of instruction per day; you won’t have time for more than one. Applications are reviewed as they are submitted, and students are accepted on a rolling basis. If your preferred course is full and you are a qualified applicant, you will be placed on the waitlist for your preferred course and admitted into your second or third choice course.

Immerse yourself in a 3-week accelerated learning experience. Summer Intensives offers a unique opportunity to earn the same amount of credits in less time, so you can pack so much more into one summer.

The UCLA Summer College Immersion Program (SCIP)

Offers exceptional high school students the opportunity to experience a comprehensive introduction to college life while studying alongside UCLA undergraduates.

Designed to emulate the undergraduate experience, SCIP provides students access to a broad range of UCLA’s academic expertise and resources through lectures, workshops, and seminars, as well as UCLA coursework. SCIP’s co-curricular components are specifically curated to empower students to gain balance and thrive as they embark on their college journey.

Successful participants will come away from SCIP with college credit, a certificate of completion for the program, and the skills to successfully manage college applications, academics, and university life.

UCLA Precollege Summer Institutes

As the only official academic precollege programs offered by UCLA, Precollege Summer Institutes provide motivated and driven high school students the opportunity to earn college credit in one to three weeks while advancing their academic career and abilities in an area of study of their interest. Through co-curricular components including hands-on projects and performances, field visits, and guest lectures, students receive a comprehensive and immersive study of their chosen subject that goes beyond classroom instruction. WESLEYAN COLLEGE summer session (2024 TBD)

Wesleyan Summer Session is open to students who feel they have the academic qualifications and stamina to complete intellectually challenging courses in a compressed schedule. Summer Session features courses in writing, literature, government, biology, data analysis and more. All courses have limited enrollment, preserving the small seminar style and opportunity for close relationships with faculty and fellow students that are the hallmarks of a Wesleyan education. Courses may only be taken for credit; auditors are not permitted in Summer Session courses.
